Untitled Tapestry
Oh, Pink Temple basic yet grand form endorses the most obvious attributes of a real temple while feeling distinctly removed from any kind of original. It’s size is uncomfortable, neither too large as would be expected with such a structure nor too small to imply some form of replica or model of a larger building. More akin to a child’s playhouse with barely enough size to fit one person.
Anyone who ventures inside, looks uncomfortably dislocated from the space. Visually severing their head from their body and legs below. It’s pink dripping ‘cakey’ materiality masks its reality in a splendid and indistinguishable camouflage. This feels both sickly and sweet, rigid and yet compromising, It’s refusal to give up it’s answers readily evokes a sense of anxiety that is at odds with the stark photographical qualities it possesses, almost as if it’s waiting for you to take a picture .
